A Sunday afternoon on the North coast, stopping of at fine spots such as Banff and Macduff, real Beauty's when the weather's nice. The day included two funtastic drop-in's from Alistair Allan, coastal walls and rubble walls, Gnarly. If only I could get these animated GIF's working, you would be able to see. Any one got a solution for me? Please comment!

Hamburg...Germany's finest city

July 2008

I pitched up in Hamburg at the weekend to sample the flavours of this renowned party town. I wasn't disappointed. This place is sick.

The Germans (like the rest of Europe) are so far ahead of the the Brits it's scary...they're better than us on every level. You name it...public transport, cycle lanes and respect for cyclists, architecture, healthy looking folk and of course all those amazing looking girls riding bikes (something Aberdonians can only dream about). Yeah, they like a drink but you don't have the malevolence of many UK towns and cities.

If you go there, you'll need to head to the Schanzenviertel area for cool bars and cheap eateries. Feel free to enjoy a few street beers. You can buy your Becks from a Kiosk and chill on the street...there's no hassle or ridiculous bylaw banning this practice.

Situated on Schulterblatt Str. is the famous Rote Flora. This is an old theatre that was taken over by left wing political activists back in 1989...they've been squatting in it ever since. There are weekly techno, dub and punk rock events held here. Check it out. Behind the building is the wonderful Flora Bowl...a proper DIY job built lovingly by the local skaters. So much fun to skate and the locals will always make you feel welcome. www.floraskatepark.org

There is also an indoor park called i-Punkt Skateland (Spaldindstr. 132)...it looks pretty sick but I didn't have time to go there.

While in town you should also head down to the infamous Reeperbahn...a long strip of sex joints, bars and clubs and crazy people everywhere. The night I was there was a bit hazy... I had been at the Becks all day long.

It was just a flying visit...I'm definitely going back there. If you haven't been to Germany, you need to get with the programme. It's always so much fun.

Cheers Craig

Another fine day

As the fine weather is still running two days on the trot we celebrated with a wee feast cooked up on the grill, a shred on the fly off, and we also got entertained by two neds and their mum. Their mum couldn't skateboard but she could do the splits, whey!
Also Aberdeen beach was packed... with white bodies.

Sibbarp Skatepark

Sibbarp Skatepark in Malmö Sweden from Bryggeriet on Vimeo.

Yet another amazing skatepark to pop up in Malmo, Sweden. All the more reason to visit the place, it's off the dial.

Construction team: Dave Toms, Chooky Fowler aka Jezza, Tobias Henriksson, Nils Svensson, John Magnusson, Patrik Evander and Pontus Alv

Union Plaza

This new spot is an absolute cracker. Union Plaza is located in the heart of the city and if you have already skated it then you will know it's a bust. Hopefully we will be able to skate the place when it's all up and running, let's keep our fingers crossed!

Summer is back

The weather has been pretty banging today and is going to last until the midweek. Aberdeen actually looks quite bonnie when the sun's out.

Kenny Herriot

This is Kenny Herriot; he’s one of the world's leading wheelchair athletes, breaking the British Record for the marathon in 2005. He became disabled in 2000 as the result of a twenty mile an hour motorcycle accident. Having previously been a successful fitness instructor he was determined to regain his fitness and not let his disability hold him back.
Now he’s a motivational speaker and an ambassador for Transition; he recently completed a once in a lifetime journey from Lands End to John o’ Groats on his hand cycle to raise money for the multiple charities he helps, including us. Kenny has two sons, both of whom dabble in the black art of the wheeled shoe. Zak in particular is seen at Transition Extreme every time he’s back in the ‘deen. Check out Kenny’s web site - watch what he can do and all should become clear why we all think so highly of this man.

Frontside boneless trick tip

My good friend Rasmus shows the world how to frontside boneless. This is a must have trick, do it over, off, and on every ramp in the park. Once you can, then go ahead call yourself a master of the frontside boneless!
