Heads up all you TE locals!
We've got a New Deal on offer for January...it's like this:
Buy a monthly pass in January for £60...renew in February and pay £50...renew again in March and pay only £40. If you keep renewing your monthly pass thereafter, you only pay £40 per month. That's only forty sheets for unlimited access to the best spot in Scotland!!
All you have to do is front up at the start of the year and reap the rewards a few months later!
This offer can only be taken up in January...and you must renew your pass each month before the expiry date. It's that simple.
Get some.

QOTD write up + photaes
On Saturday 6th December, within the walls of the Tunnels, the conclusion of an Aberdeen skateboarding first was taking place. Queen O’ The Deen 2008 (QOTD) was drawing to a close and the moment had come where all the participating teams would reveal the skateboarding magic that they had compiled over the previous month.
The friends and peers of those involved had gathered in the crowd, eagerly anticipating an exciting and entertaining night. They were not to be disappointed.
Nine teams were participating in the competition, the aim of which was to complete as many set challenges on camera as possible within the month of November, with the winner being the team that managed to complete the most challenges, as well as putting together the best edit.
All the edits will be available to watch online in the not-too distant future, so I won’t go into all the gory details of who did what, you can watch and judge that for yourselves. However, things that stand out in my mind would include: Haydn Morgan landing a bigspin murder flip over a hip; Callum Barrack stand up 5.0 in the deep end of the bowl – on a foot-long keyboard; Neil 2.0’s line in the bowl, which I think was second try; Steve Doag’s blindfolded tre fakie on a flat bank; Alistair Allan’s ridiculous drop in attempt; and both the start and end of the ‘Team under 5 Year Olds’ edit.
Got to also send a wee shout out to our Carluke friends for embracing the Aberdeen scene and handing an edit in themselves. There’s a barefoot backside nose-blunt stall, as well as a skinny white boy with his arse out in that edit, another one nae to be missed!
After the edits had been scrutinised, it was decided that the winner of QOTD 2008 was ‘The Ninja Bats’. Although they had a shite team name, their edit was banging.
The Ninja Bats comprised of Callum Barrack, Haydn Morgan, Gareth Morgan and Pete Copeland. Well done to them.
I would also like to thank Mark ‘Patty’ Paterson for sorting out the Tunnels as a venue for the premier showing of all the footage, as well as sorting out a collection of new skateboard videos which played in the background throughout the night, and served as perfect background entertainment for skateboarders intent on consuming copious amounts of alcohol.
Admittedly, November was possibly not the best month to attempt a competition like this, as the weather was definitely not favourable and a lot of people, (Ross King), were swamped with tons of course work for uni. Mistakes will be learned from, so watch this space for a summer return of Queen O’ The Deen in 2009.
Cheers again to everyone that handed in an edit or contributed to the filming and editing on one. It was grand to see the vast majority of Aberdeen Skateboarders in the same place. The scene is feeling strong. Roll on 2009.

Scotland article in Giftorm
www.giftorm.se/
Our Swedish friend John Österlind whilst visiting the island.
John managed to get a wee article of his travels in his hometown mag 'Giftorm'.
"A game of skate in the garage and then straight to the pub"
As I don't speak Swedish I'm unable to understand what the article says but the photos in it are pretty radical, taken by local loons Sam Longmire and Colin Bruce at the kirk rail and Denburn Banks.

The Wednesday Comp son!!
The first Wednesday night comp started with a bang! Well a lot of bangs actually – it happened yards from Aberdeen’s biggest fireworks display in years. Some of us even got to see them going snap, crackle and pop. As for the comp we had some true bangers, some crazy pop and some screaming Scotsmen (if that isn’t a name for a firework - it should be). It took most of the night but we got there in the end. Tea mugs were tagged up in the traditional Wednesday cup livery by our very own president elect Barrack O’bam’r. And they looked the dogs’.
One went to Flying Ryan Gibson (AKA Sheckler) for winning the under sixteens. The other went to Dan G for winning a very hard fought battle with transition staff tech dog Pete C and all round ruler Callum ‘the first black president’ Barrack.
Notable moments came from both groups. Wee Lee Ross and Neil 2.0 comping each other on every trick and ending up with the same score, best of all was Mark his last name is Paterson, laying down the hardest trick of the day: a switch mayday. Then to his horror four people got it! Some of whom have never even tried it before. See you here next week for more cups, prizes and banter.

Wednesday Comp
The History of the Wednesday Cup goes way back to the Stoneywood skate park days. It was a competition born out of boredom and purely done for fun, kudos and the worst looking ‘trophy’ on earth. It cost twenty pence to enter, and if you won you got to take home the prize fund, a mars bar or Snicker’s and of course, the coveted Wednesday Cup. Four or five people usually entered, so about one whole pound was up for grabs. But you could say with pride, you’d won the Wednesday Cup. And you had it there in your hand as poof - a dirty plastic pint glass covered in duct tape and stickers with the words Wednesday Cup Winner scribed into it with biro. The Wednesday Cup!
Transition skate parks version of The Wednesday Cup is five separate games of SKATE held on five different obstacles in the skate park, the five obstacles will be chosen at random from the fallowing options, so it will never be the same five two weeks in a row.
- Flat ground
- Micro ramp
- Grind box
- Small hip
- Small driveway
- Whippy quarter
- Flat bank
- Wild cards (6ft mini, round rail and big hip)
Rules
- Everyone must pay one pound into the prize fund for their age group
- The youngest person in each group always sets the first trick
- Only one trick per turn.
- Only one try per letter
- No two try’s on last trick.
- No heckling, no gloating, no casper’s and strictly no pressure flips!
Every Wednesday at 7o’clock any skateboarder who wants to compete in the Wednesday Cup can do so by paying one pound into the prize fund (but must of course have paid to enter for that session). The competitors can be any age, and they’ll compete in two different age groups; under 16’s and over 16’s. All riders must compete on every obstacle and each game will fallow the same standard game of SKATE rules
The scoring of each competition is the key to the Wednesday Cup, without it the over-all positions would become impossible to tell. Only first and second places will get points! One point for first place and half a point for second (so even if two or more people go out on the last trick, they’ll all get the same – a half point). Then after all events have run there course. The person who wins the most points over all five sections will obviously win their age groups Wednesday Cup and all the money in the prize fund. But all points will be added up, to work out who comes in 2nd and 3rd place in both age groups and there will be some prizes for them too, given to us by our sponsors. Thanks to Power Dist, Revival, Carhartt, Relentless and Boarderline.

The red dot marks the skatepark, it's easy to find, right next to the football ground and school.
Buckie skatepark was designed by Andy Dobson and lives up to the standard of past parks designed by Andy, such as kemnay and tran-x.
The park has fast flowing lines with multiple obstacles to hit, it's fairly compact therefore at times quick thinking is needed to carve past any lurking human being.
